Film arts is an important area of study at the forefront of the cutting-edge technology of the arts. It is also a comprehensive area that includes not only all the fields of the arts, but even scientific fields. Against this backdrop, our department aims to nurture future professionals who can lead not only Korean film and performing arts area but also the global film industry using imagination, creativity, and our nation’s unique cultural properties as their advantage. The Department of Film Art is divided into two concentrations: Directing/Production and Acting Arts. However, regardless of the concentration, our program focuses on teaching freshmen the fundamental theories of arts as well as practical application (directing, acting). For sophomores, we focus on basic skill training of film and acting arts. For juniors, we focus on in-depth film art skills and techniques as well as the creation of artworks by harmoniously combining these various skills and techniques. Finally, for seniors, we allow them to develop the ability to easily adapt to the real world and effectively prepare them for their first steps into the job market in film and performing arts industries. For those in Directing and Production, we aim to nurture students who can adjust to the real world of film and moving images areas right after their graduation through a practical program that focuses on film directing, production, scenario creation, shooting, editing, and sound. Unlike other universities’ corresponding departments, the Acting Arts concentration aims to foster students by focusing on practice-oriented acting training and education so that they may become professionals who can ably handle work in the theater arts as well as pop cultures and various media. In addition, they may also become educators in the future.
