Physics is the study of the basic principles that govern the physical world around us. This course will provide you with the scientific knowledge and skills required to be a Physicist in addition to learning about the applications of computing and data science techniques in physics and related sciences.
In Year 1 and 2, we will introduce you to a range of subjects including Physics Theory, Physics Problem Solving, Data Science, Numerical Methods and Computational Physics, and Mathematics. You will also get practical experience in a laboratory conducting a variety of stimulating experiments. In Year 3, you will undertake a seven-month work placement in industry or research, and in Year 4, you will study new subjects including Thermal Physics, Ionising Radiation and Nuclear Physics, and Particle Physics and Astrophysics.
Throughout the course, you’ll develop the crucial skills and attributes sought by employers, including interpersonal skills, adaptability, problem-solving and communication skills. IT, Computing and Data Science form a significant part of the course, which also includes extensive practical and project work.
