Entrepreneurship is the process by which individuals pursue opportunities without regard to the resources they currently control. Through this process, entrepreneurs create something new, whether it’s in an existing firm or via a business startup. Once entrepreneurs identify an opportunity to create something new, they must follow a process to bring their idea to fruition.
Our program is designed to help students learn how to identify promising opportunities and then bring them to life. A promising opportunity enhances someone’s life, makes a business or individual more efficient or effective, and contributes to society at large. Our academic program coupled with opportunities available through the Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship represent an ideal mix. In the classroom, students will learn the fundamentals of the entrepreneurial process, and they can then practice and fine-tune what they’ve learned through Riata Center competitions and experiential activities.
